The Chief Program Officer (CPO) is a high-level executive position within an organization that is responsible for overseeing all program development and directing operations to ensure that the organization meets its key performance indicators (KPIs). The CPO is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and policies related to the organization’s programs and initiatives, and for ensuring that these programs and initiatives are aligned with the organization’s overall mission and goals.  The CPO also works closely with other members of the executive leadership team to develop and implement effective strategies for achieving the organization’s objectives. In addition to these responsibilities, the CPO may also be responsible for managing budgets, overseeing staff, and collaborating with external partners to ensure the success of the organization’s programs and initiatives. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and support a high performing culture aligned with the organization’s vision, mission and values.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Director, and program staff on developing new program ideas and pilot projects that are inclusive geared towards the people the agency supports.
  • Oversee the coordination, integration, and delivery of all programs, contracts and related services, promote collaborative relationships between programs and ensure that the expectations of funders, partners, constituents, clients, and other stakeholders are consistently met.
  • Analyze and assess programs based on data collected and implement corrective measures as required. Participate in the programmatic and operational decision-making process.
  • Establish specific time-table for program operations and ensure that the organization meets all millstones and program goals within the agreed time-frames stipulated by the Executive Director.
  • Develop clear key performance indicators (KPIs) for each program that are consistent and align with most recent strategic objectives.
  • Work with the Executive Team and Board of Directors to create long term goals, policies and strategies that promote the health and longevity of current and new programs for long term success.
  • Develop and maintain an inclusive and equitable team-based environment to motivate and inspire staff to work collaboratively with one another.
  • Collaborate work with key management staff such as the Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer and the Assistant Associate Directors to gain insight into the current standing of each of the departments/units to assist with administering the agencies strategic plan and implement agreed upon initiatives.
  • Represent Arc Morris and the Executive Team, on relevant committees and task forces, as well as at speaking engagements, conference panels and trainings.
  • Work closely with the finance department to budget and monitor programmatic operations to ensure sound fiscal and system management.
  • Determine staffing plans to achieve program goals and objectives and participate in hiring decisions for new program staff.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience

  • A minimum of eight years leadership experience in a nonprofit, government, or philanthropy organization, overseeing multiple programs or contracts ideally at an organization serving diverse communities, preferably developmental disabilities.
  • Possess of a bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, business administration, or related field, as well as knowledge of and/or five years of experience working effectively with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Behavioral Support background is preferable.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • High level of judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Progressive management experience, including supervision at a comparable level of responsibility.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and adhere to a budget
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience with the preparation of surveys, strategic plans, evaluations, compliance records and reports
