Our client has been supporting people with developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling lives with a sense of belonging, purpose, and meaningful relationships for over 70 years. As the largest IDD organization in Maryland, they provide services at people’s homes, places of employment, day centers, and neighborhoods.

They are seeking a Director of Quality Enhancement who will be responsible for overseeing the quality of services provided by the different entities to ensure they promote and protect individuals’ rights, safety, health, satisfaction, and community inclusion. The Director will also be responsible for keeping abreast of new trends in the field that focus on providing quality driven, state of the art services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

The Director of Quality Enhancement is responsible for overseeing the quality of services provided by the different entities to ensure that they promote and protect individuals’ rights, safety, health, satisfaction, and community inclusion. Also responsible for keeping abreast of new trends in the field that focus on providing quality driven, state of the art services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the agency’s Quality Assurance plan, including working with each department to identify measurable outcomes that will promote continuous quality improvement in the agency’s provision of services.
  • Serve as a liaison to the different programs providing ongoing training, coaching and other support with an emphasis on promoting independence for the people they serve.
  • Serve as Chair of the Individual Planning Committee actively facilitating participation by all departments.
  • Serve as Chair of The Support Strategies Committee, Staff Liaison to the Human Rights and Quality Assurance Committees.
  • Review all internally and seriously reportable incidents to assure current regulations and policies are being followed, individuals are being treated fairly and with respect and that the agency is taking all necessary actions to ensure the safety and health of all individuals.
  • Develop and maintain systems to assure the organization continues to maintain focus of promoting independence, supporting individuals with making community connections and supporting individuals with making informed choices in all aspects of their lives.
  • Keep abreast with the current trends in self-determination and provide training as needed to the agency on these trends.
  • Provide on-going coaching to Direct Support Professionals in all programs to assist them in providing individualized, self-determining supports to people.
  • Ensure the agency individual planning process effectively meets individual needs and choices provide oversight, refinement, and coordination of IP system throughout the agency.
  • Compile, maintain and update Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Coordinate annual review by State Licensing agents including developing and monitoring implementation of any required plan of correction.
  • Must have experience in ensuring agency wide compliance to State/Federal regulations, DDA regulations preferred.
  • Oversight and coordination of agency participation in external accreditation review including pre-review activities, actual on-sight review and follow-up with any recommendations.
  • Participate in Leadership meetings; attend trainings outside of the agency and complete all agency required trainings for position
  • Participate in the MACS Quality Assurance committee as well as other statewide QA groups.
  • Conduct various training topics at Statewide Trainings such as the Direct Care Conference. Conduct agency training as requested by the Director of Training.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in the field of Quality Enhancement including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Comfort with public speaking and advocacy skills.

Working Conditions

  • Evening and weekend work required.
  • This position will be a hybrid position and allows the flexibility of work in the office environment, site/community-based locations, or remote environment as dictated by the needs of the organization.
