The Arc of Monmouth’s mission is to improve the lives of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families through advocacy, services and supports, collaboration with community partners and education has an employee base of approximately 250 employees.

 The Arc Center, located in Tinton Falls, NJ is our administrative building.  Our Agency provides services to twelve residential programs located throughout Monmouth County and five adult day programs. Three of the adult day programs are in our Campus Parkway facility in Wall Township.  Adult day programs in other parts of Monmouth County are Western Monmouth in Morganville, NJ and Branches in Long Branch, NJ.

Job Summary

The Senior Director of Programs & Vocational Services provides leadership, strategic direction, and management to the Adult Services, WOC and Transportation teams and actively partners with colleagues in Residential Services, Health Services, Finance, Quality Assurance and Human Resources to realize the Agency’s strategic plan and create long-term, sustainable day programs that meet the needs of the Monmouth County I/DD community.

The Senior Director creates strategies that align with the rules and regulations of the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) to expand The Arc of Monmouth’s visibility, increase participant enrollment and improve employee retention and engagement. The successful candidate will serve as a member of the senior management team and will be the main spokesperson for day programs.

Job Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

  • Partners with the Executive Director in carrying out the Adult Services plan to support the overall strategic plan of the Agency.
  • Collaborates with and supports other departments in fulfilling the overall Agency mission.
  • Serves as a key spokesperson and advocate for Adult Day programs mission in the community.

Management and Supervision

  • Manages the Adult Day Program, WOC and Transportation departments in a fiscally sound manner by ensuring that the appropriate staffing, systems, and procedures are in place to support program goals.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to all staff members of the departments.
  • Hires, trains, and motivates competent Adult Day Program, WOC and Transportation staff committed to the mission and values of The Arc of Monmouth, Inc,. 
  • Coaches and develops staff to maximize performance, completes performance reviews and makes recommendations to the Executive Director and Senior Director of Human Resources affecting salary and employment decisions. 

Adult Services, WOC and Transportation Leadership

  • Develops new Adult Services programming in alignment with The Arc of Monmouth’s Strategic Plan.
  • Leads development of Total Agency Transportation program and oversees the implementation and monitoring of the transportation system.
  • Develops departmental goals and objectives and oversees program evaluation of the Adult Day Services, WOC and Transportation departments.
  • Assures that each Adult Day and WOC Program is operating in compliance with the policies and procedures of The Arc and the standards of its funding sources.
  • Participates in meetings, staff and family conferences relative to the needs of the participants.
  • Cooperates with inspections or investigations conducted by The Arc of Monmouth and/or by the New Jersey Department of Human Services, the Division of Developmental Disabilities or the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
  • Provides oversight, guidance and training on daily management and issues related to electronic records systems.

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation, psychology, social work or a related field and a minimum of 8 years supervisory experience required.
  • Master’s degree in an affiliated field strongly desired.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in a setting serving persons with intellectual/ developmental disabilities.
  • A proven track record of success and progressive accomplishments with Adult Day programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing people and budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships and work collaboratively with all levels.
  • Organizational, time management and people skills necessary to succeed with competing priorities in Adult Day Services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Agility to work in a busy environment, willingness to support daily needs of various Adult Day programs and ability to travel locally approximately 60% between locations.
  • Reliable transportation, proof of vaccination and valid driver’s license required.

 Work Environment

Work is value, goal and deadline-oriented; frequent travel driving throughout Monmouth County day program sites is expected as well as walking, standing, bending, lifting and carrying items weighing in excess of 20 pounds; computer work; some extended hours.
